Kleiner Perkins
Business events are always important to the company and Kleiner Perkins’ is no different. During the event series, I am responsible for capturing 3 days worth of events at roughly 1-2 hours in length. Each of the events is a bit different from the last. Our first event is a small mixer in a private room of an event space for younger partners. The second event is a private catered dinner in an upscale loft/kitchen for the more seasoned partners. And for the final event, we find ourselves at a rooftop bar for a late afternoon to early evening large mixer with fireside chats.
Day 1 – Influencer/Social Partners
This was a rather light event, where we just wanted to get a mix of location shots and just people interacting with each other. Candid shots are the name of the game in situations like this. These are shots that tell a story of building blocks and growth. The youthfulness of this day expresses forward momentum and fun.
Day 2 – Seasoned Partners.
This is the most intimate portion of the event series. During this time I watch as there is a premium experiencing being curated. As a result of this special attention, there is a specific focus on the more mature partners working with the company. This portion consists of a beautiful loft space for private engagements, an all-star team of chefs, and very in-tune staff. The setting is mixer. The lighting is a dim-lit orange. In most instances I am not fond of changing the color of the lighting in post because it ruins the mood and ambience. Some photographers will immediate daylight balance to have brighter shots, but I want you to feel as if you were there. The mood is a must.
Day 3 – Young Mixer
In conclusion, this final day consists of a large group of the younger partners and fireside chats. The goal is to network, develop relationships, and build knowledge on successful business working and investment. The group is a lively and fun bunch. Candid shots and constant rotation are the name of the game here. Luckily for me I had previously worked an event at this location. As a result I can capture shots with even greater accuracy.
