TajiMag x AFROPUNK 2023

An amazing experience. There isn’t much I can’t say about TajiMag x AFROPUNK 2023. This is an event that encompasses a lot of history and creativity. Some in attendance may be unaware of the roots of AFROPUNK and how it affects all of what they see today, but in spite of that, the spirit of the event shines through. At this year’s event I represent TajiMag and cover everything exciting about the event.

As images progress through the slides you will see a varied set of looks and energy. Some subtle, some exciting, but all energy. The crowds who come to AFROPUNK are there to see who has the most amazing look as well as take part in the great stage performances on display.

If you aren’t familiar already, TajiMag is a Black Culture Publication. Run by NayMarie, she insists on making sure we see a light hearted and beautiful display of Black people.

2 Day Event

At the TajiMag x AFROPUNK 2023 setup, my goal was to bounce between the 3 major areas of vendor and stages 1 & 2. If you attend the event you understand that the distance between each area isn’t small. The festival accommodates a large number of people as attendees as well as performers and vendors. Because of this large amount of people there is a great deal of space that is used to make sure everyone can mix and mingle comfortably.

Installations, aerialists, stilt walkers, and more walk the grounds interacting and posing with the passerbys. In addition to this, there is a large number of those in attendance who come dressed for the event to be photographed and potentially be included in various publications and have their images shared across multiple platforms.
