The Earth Element Series
This particular session was under the creative direction of Coco aka “Brush Queen”. Normally the makeup artist for our shoots, Coco also steps in front of the camera to showcase her skills. This was a balance of appreciation for nature and running from insects. The weather that day was super hot, in spite of this we were able to find crossing trees that helped mitigate that heat. Although we were able to survive the heat, the insects were none too happy to have us invade their space. They were very vocal about it. Despite this, we shot quickly and flawlessly and were able to get out prior to the thunderstorm that came 5 minutes after shoot close.
The Picks
The earth element series was slightly more perplexing due to the inability to see your exact locations. We found ourselves walking uphill and around winding paths to both find locations that were isolated and would provide great open space to use. Our chosen spot became a side path about 400 meters up the hill and to the side. Once up this hill there we found a side path marked by a large fallen tree stump and a small natural step formation. To our surprise, following our path discovery, this formation led to a beautiful clearing with a smaller path that was away from everyone, almost as if noone knew it existed. Our secondary spot consists of the main path which goes unused. Unfrequented by anyone the entire time, we were allowed a freedom of selection and pacing that would’ve otherwise proven difficult with such narrow paths.
