A shoot that keeps you on your toes
The Yaz lifestyle product shoot was meant to be a bit unconventional due to the lifestyle nature. A shoot that would highlight both products and style required a headshot and portrait session rolled into one. Yaz is a wonderful model. She embodies the products given to her. Though this was a very smooth shoot, the original location was closed on that day. This resulted in us searching for an impromptu location before the sun set. Lucky for us a location away from most foot traffic is just a short stop away. Due to the colder weather, we didn’t have many people notice us outside of my softbox on my stand. The only visibility came from those traveling by on the bus.
Colorful Yaz lifestyle product shoot!
Once we figured location out, it was simply a matter of composition. My desire here is to shoot near foliage that contains several colors. To both contrast the coat and match the earth tones of the jewelry being she will wear, the foliage is a perfect choice. The sun was quickly setting and though it would normally have not been a problem, it was setting in the area to our rear which had several tall trees. This meant that our available light would only be there for the next 10 minutes or so. Knowing this, moving wasn’t much of an option. We went into express mode but were able to pull off several angles and compositions that would work towards and against the light. Luckily for us, I did also have my strobe, which would take a great deal of pressure off of needing all natural light.
